December 2023 | Message from our President

For those of you who have not heard, Mundy has retired as Temple Beth El’s Executive Director. For many years, she has served temple and kept the organization running through many times of joy and sadness, smooth paths and bumpy ones, tumultuous times and quiet ones. Mundy has been a dedicated member as well as the director. We will be honoring her at the Chanukah Dinner so I hope you will attend and offer your congratulations on her new career…retirement!

I would like to wish each and every one a Happy Chanukah! I hope you will join us for the Chanukah dinner on December 10th at the JCC. Please see the flyer in this issue of the Temple Times. Reservations by December 1st is a must since the meat order has to be in. I am sure you do not want to be left out celebrating with your friends and family.

Please join us as we celebrate the Festival of Lights.

This Chanukah we will light our gorgeous new copper menorah in the garden at temple each evening. We would like to extend many thanks and much appreciation to Ed and Steven Kowalsky for helping bring the design of the new menorah to fruition. On December 8th, we will gather to light the second candle before Shabbat Services and follow up with an Oneg. I hope you can make it!!!!

Rabbi Geier’s is offering more classes and the number of students is climbing! Everyone is welcome and if you have any questions please call him at (315) 272-1755.

I would like to thank Mary, Melissa, Roseanne, Sara, Jennifer, Wayne, Rabbi Schaktman and Rabbi Geier for making the trip to Washington DC for the March to support Israel as representatives of the Utica area Jewish Community and special kudos to Vic for arranging the specifics.

Let’s all pray for the Israel’s victory to end terrorism and the safe return of the hostages.

Am Yisrael Chai,

Marsha
